Juan Cristián Santa María is an experienced product stewardship, governance, and innovation executive. He has a vast track record of helping global brands achieve sustainable business growth by establishing and driving regulatory strategies and advocacy, leading product design, and defining internal governance, with long international and domestic experience in food and beverage industry. Juan Cristián currently serves as VP, Head of Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs with Tate & Lyle, where he leads the development and execution of regulatory strategies to enable the commercialization of new and existing ingredients and technologies across the world. Before joining Tate & Lyle, he served for over 26 years in multiple regional and corporate roles at The Coca-Cola Company. In his long career, he has excelled in the areas of international food policy and regulatory issues, ingredient reputation management (IRM), M&A due diligence, product commercialization, claims substantiation, food additives and novel food ingredient evaluations, food labeling, formula management and product innovation. Juan Cristián is a native of Chile who grew up in Costa Rica. He has a MSc in Organometallic Chemistry from University of Costa Rica, and an MBA with emphasis on International Business from FUNDEPOS (Postgraduate Studies Foundation of Costa Rica). He lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and four children.
